Send or answer an order message

Message a buyer or seller about an order

Outcome: Read and reply in a conversation for one order, recover an unconfirmed send, and manage unread updates.

Message as a seller

  1. Open Dashboard, choose Selling, and find the form under My Forms.
  2. Choose View orders, then click the buyer's order row to expand it.
  3. Open Payment + Buyer and choose Message.
  4. Read the existing thread, enter your update or question, then choose Send.

You need the form owner's access or the collaborator permission Message buyers. Buyer messages notify the form owner; another collaborator with this permission can open and reply in the same order thread.

Unread buyer messages show a message chip on the order row. Selecting it opens the relevant thread. A seller message can also email the buyer a link back to the conversation when the buyer's preference and delivery-safety limits allow it.

Message as a buyer

Open My Orders or Buying → Orders on the Dashboard. Choose View order, open Messages, and select Open order conversation. Buyers who checked out without an account can sign in with the same checkout email to see matching orders and threads.

An Unread seller reply action opens the relevant order conversation. Seller replies can also appear in the bell and email when the applicable account and delivery controls allow them. Each conversation shows the order reference and belongs to that order, even when the seller combines several orders for fulfillment.

Use Load earlier messages to read older history and Show new messages when updates arrive while you are reading further up the thread. Messages count as read only after they are displayed in the visible conversation and the server confirms the acknowledgment. Opening the bell does not mark the whole thread read.

Choose Send to submit your message. If the result is uncertain, Retry same message retries that same send without creating another copy. The composer keeps your draft when sending fails; do not assume an unconfirmed send succeeded. Close the dialog with its close button or Escape and reopen the same order to continue. Draft recovery depends on browser storage and is not a substitute for a confirmed message.

Private notes in the order are different: private titles, labels, and notes stay in your account and are not sent to the seller.

Messages stay attached to their exact operational order. Protected receipt records do not have live message threads, and a buyer should use the account that owns the live order or the same checkout email used for it.

Privacy and notifications

The thread is not public and is intended for the buyer and seller for that order, but it is not an end-to-end encrypted secrets vault. Messages are limited to 2,000 characters. Do not put login, authenticator, or recovery codes; API keys; passwords; crypto secrets; full payment credentials; or one-time access links in a thread.

Open the account menu at the top right, choose Account Settings → Notifications, and find Order message received. Its Email checkbox controls the email notification; turn it off when in-site bell alerts are sufficient. Changes save automatically; wait for Notification preferences saved. The conversation remains available either way.

The saved order thread is the source of truth. Delivery-safety controls can withhold an unusual burst of email prompts without removing a message that was already accepted into the thread. Reopen the thread before sending the same text again.

Use order messages for a specific order. Use EZFormz support only for website account access, errors, broken tools, uploads, or bugs. Product, payment, refund, shipping, pickup, cancellation, or seller-policy questions belong with the form owner. Suspected order or payment fraud, threats, impersonation, or malicious forms or users belong in Report fraud, abuse, or a policy violation; reporting does not require contacting the other party first.
